Aegon: Periodic consultation November 2021

November 18 2021

On Thursday, November 11, 2021, there was again periodic consultation at Aegon. In these consultations, trade unions, HR and the Central Works Council discuss current affairs at Aegon and we work on the implementation of collective labor agreements. More about that below.

Own direction

The previous collective labor agreement survey and employee meetings showed that employees do not take sufficient control of their own development. This has led to a study agreement in the collective labor agreement in which research would be conducted into the drivers of self-management at Aegon. The Human Capital Group (HCG) did this research and gave us a presentation about the results. HCG has provided the parties with a number of conclusions and recommendations. We will further determine which recommendations and proposed actions will be included in the new collective labor agreement as of 1 June 2022.

Training

Aegon's collective labor agreement contains the agreement to develop employment opportunities through retraining programs within and outside Aegon. In that context, we have agreed to further develop the internal retraining trajectory to JAVA Developer and to determine in February 2022 whether we will really develop the trajectory. We have also decided that we will no longer start practical pilots during the remaining term of the collective labor agreement. We are still investigating what is needed within Aegon.

CLA process

Now that the latest collective labor agreements are being put into practice, we are already discussing the structure of the negotiations for a new collective labor agreement and social plan as of 1 July 2022. We will once again be working with a collective labor agreement survey, (digital) employee meetings, collective labor agreement work groups. and with an external facilitator. In the coming consultation on 9 December we will have a first brainstorm about the collective labor agreement topics. So the question to you is which themes are important to you? I, representative Emanuel Geurts, would like to receive your response via emanuel.geurts@unie.nl. The planning is for the negotiations to take place in the period from mid-April to mid-June 2022. More information about the negotiations later.

happiness at work

In the collective labor agreement we have agreed to organize a week of happiness at work in order to put happiness at work / work pressure on the agenda and make it a topic for discussion. This week of happiness at work took place last September. It follows from its evaluation that it was a success due to the high number of participants and the collaboration between Employability (293), Vitality (185) and Imove (51). Employees also indicated that the Masterclasses and inspiration sessions were useful in terms of content and that they actually led to a change in their behaviour.
